What they’re saying

Frequently asked questions…

  • Yes it can! Because each WWII ring was handmade or originally worn by a soldier, the sizes naturally vary. Many can be resized by a skilled modern jeweler to better fit your finger, though resizing should always be done with care since these are authentic historical rings.

It’s generally much easier to size a ring down than it is to size it up. For that reason, if you plan to resize, it’s best to choose a ring that is larger than your finger size rather than smaller.

We always recommend working with an experienced jeweler who has knowledge of vintage or antique pieces. And of course, if you’d prefer not to resize, many collectors choose to wear them on a different finger or keep them as preserved display pieces.

  • Theater-made rings are some of the most unique and personal relics of World War II. Unlike standard military issue insignia rings, these pieces were created by soldiers themselves while serving overseas. Materials were often taken straight from the battlefield such as wreckage of downed Allied or enemy aircraft, spent shell casings, or fragments of discarded equipment found during/after a campaign. Soldiers shaped and engraved these scraps into personal keepsakes, marking them with insignias, unit emblems, initials, or custom designs. Because they were made by hand in the field, each theater-made ring is absolutely one of a kind. In most cases, they are true “one of ones,” with no duplicate existing anywhere in the world. These rings are not just jewelry. They are raw expressions of a soldier’s service, resourcefulness, and creativity under the most trying conditions of war.

  • Yes. Every WWII ring comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as well as a detailed historical research report. This report outlines the ring’s provenance and provides as much of its original story as possible, including details about the type of ring, its background, and any connections to a specific branch, division, ship, or theater of war. For theater-made rings, we also note if they were crafted from battlefield materials like downed aircraft, shell casings, or other wartime remnants. While not every piece can be traced to a single soldier, we include all available context so that each ring is not just an artifact but a preserved story from WWII.

  • Each WWII ring is an original artifact, so every piece is truly one of a kind. Once a ring is sold, it’s gone, and there is no way to know if another like it will ever appear again. While all of these wearable WWII rings are rare, it is generally easier to find broader examples such as U.S. Navy, Marines, Army, or Army Air Forces rings. Rings tied to a specific ship or a particular division, however, are far more difficult to surface and are considered incredibly rare. We regularly add new rings to the collection as they become available stop so if you are searching for something connected to a certain branch, division, or ship, you are welcome to let us know. We’ll reach out if a piece that matches your request comes into the collection.
